The Owl Lady

One cold February night in New Jersey around 8pm in 2013, I was driving with my son, heading back  from an evening school sports event.  We were at least 50 minutes away from home.  The night was eerie from the time we walked out from the school auditorium. I looked up at the moon and it was sheltered by a misty cloud. The air was brisk and the night was dark and desolate.

On our way home, we stopped at a quick mart to grab some snacks to hold us over before dinner, since we had a long ride ahead of us. As we continued our journey home, we were listening to the radio, laughing, and talking about the event. The night was so dark and deserted, It seemed like we were literally the only car driving on the road. While my son continued talking, I was more sight seeing and of course still paying attention to the rode, but then it suddenly became a zone out. As we were approaching to pass a closed produce store on my driver side.  On the porch of the store stood a tall, slim, deathly pale woman in a long white gown that covered her feet. She had long straight black hair that reached her hip, with one hand up as if she was waiving to me. She had the face of an owl with big black eyes. In my head I’m thinking “what the heck? with my mouth open, I’m starring straight at her, our eyes met. Suddenly my son yells “Mom red light! and I quickly snapped out of it immediately applying my brakes. While at the light I turn back to see if I could still see her, but she was gone. My son says “Mom, you almost ran a red light! and  in complete panic I said ” I’m sorry, I guess I was just in deep thought for a second, are you ok? and he just continued eating his snacks and bopping his head to the music on the radio with no other words or thoughts about it, yet I was still bit shaken.

When we finally got home, after dinner and a bath,  I went online to see if I could find anything about an Owl Woman.

I wanted to know if she was giving me a sign or warning. I found this picture online that made me think of what I saw, especially with the one hand up just like I saw it.

There are many symbolic meanings of the Owl itself,

1. If an owl has visited you, an incredible gift has been bestowed.

2. Animals are only called to those who share the same energy.  In other words, you hold within you some of the very same symbolic attributes the animal represents.

3. The beliefs that the Owl is evil, signs of death, etc….

Now as far as the “Owl Woman”  I couldn’t find anything that made any sense. Have any of you ever experienced the owl lady or do you know what she represents? Tell me your story!

Update!!!

Today 3/10/14  a year later, I was watching a show on an Xfinity channel called Destination America that aired a show called: Monsters & Mysteries: La Lechuza A-K-A The Witch Bird or Witch Owl.

In the Hispanic folklore of Mexico and Texas, tales are told of a strange shape shifting witch known as La Lechuza. La Lechuza was once a curandera (a person that practices “medicine” using herbs, witchcraft, and “prayers” ) who, after being exposed as a witch (or bruja), was killed by the angry and frightened townspeople. Folklore says that she returned from beyond the grave as a ghost to seek revenge upon those who murdered her in the form of a human-sized bird with a woman’s face.

I thought to myself… Wow! could this be the answer to the experience I had last year, when I came face to face with the Owl Lady? It’s funny, no one had any idea what I was talking about and I honestly couldn’t find any useful information online or at the library.

The La Lechuza has only been seen in New Mexico. What I can’t wrap my mind around is, why did I see something so similar in New Jersey? The  difference here  in description is that the Owl Witch seen in New Mexico by 2 brothers, who broke into an abandoned building for fun, was dressed in all black, her demonic features and presence caused paralyzing fear .

I will admit, my jaws dropped, and I was a bit shaken, but I was not terrified of the Owl Lady and not at all did I feel that she was in anyway demonic or trying to do harm. As a matter of fact she was waving to me as I passed by as if she was welcoming me to town. She was tall, at least 5’9 I would say, she was slender, had extremely long black straight silky hair, and she was wearing a long out dated white dress that covered her feet. Her body was deathly pale and she had the face of an owl. That’s all I have and we met eyes as brief as I drove by, nearly passing through a red light. I used  digital software to create an image as close to what I saw.

I’m still searching for answers…feel free to comment 😀

Update 2016!!!

I’ve come to conclusion that the owl is my guide. Coming from such a powerful ancestral background. I believe I’ve inherited the owl woman. I had another incident.

I got off from work pretty late and it was raining really bad. I was driving home down a heavily wooded narrow road in New Jersey. I was the only car at the time on the road. Out of no where a white figure darts out from the woods on my left and hovers the front of my car about 6 feet high for 5 seconds, staring directly at me and she darts back into the woods on my right. It was the same woman I saw back in 2013 in another city an hours away.

I am hispanic and this is true. In the mexican culture many people believe a witch can turn into an owl and cause spiritual harm, but they are usually the size of a human just in the form of an owl and not the actual size of a regular owl. It also depends on the color of the owl. A black owl isn’t good but a white owl is usually fine. If you happen to hear an owl or see an owl(the animal, not a witch) it is also a sign of death or something good is coming. I had an experience once with hearing an owl. It happened on a Tues. or Wed. , I heard an owl right outside in the tree near my window, but I couldn’t find it in the tree though. It hooted over 20 times and it was in the afternoon. I looked around outside, saw no one(at the time I was living in an apartment complex, everyone was either at work or school) so I thought this owl was meant for me to hear. A week later my grandmother had passed. This was in May of 2013.

It is an ancient demon worshiped in Babylon as Ishtar’s sister “Ereshkigal”
    See photo in link: http://i-cias.com/e.o/ill/ishtar01.jpg
She was worshiped by Jews as Asherah in Solomon temple and circumcision is a covenant dedicated to her in ancient Egypt where she was worshiped as Isis.
She is a bloody demon obsessed with genital mutilation and violent sex, so search if you involved in any genital mutilation (circumcision) or witchcraft

Would she be able to visit the west coast of Florida?

Her existence began in Mexico and I’m in New Jersey. There are stories in other states as well. I wouldn’t underestimate where her presence can be seen and experienced..

    Greetings Paranormaville,

I, too, have an interest in the Owl Lady. No, I haven’t seen her like yourself. Just fascinated.

Whatever the case, I read your interesting story, saw your references, and I just wanted to contribute:

The one thing that stood out to me most was that you wrote that she had one hand extended upward as if to say a hello. Now, we know that something not human, will certainly not have the same intent in mind as that of a human. For instance, a non human raising their hand will probably not be a wave or greeting.

Go to Google images and type in Babylonian Lilith and you might be surprised at what you see.

Also, Lilith…..Ishtar. I believe Ishtar may have been the consort of Marduk. Further study on my part is required. Sorry.

Cripes, I hadn’t noticed until too late but Salim beat me to the punch.
